The Embodiment of Sound
Nada Yoga Explorations

Continue your daily practice of humming.
Do not underestimate the power of sound to move matter and transform your life.

Let your humming be intuitive, or gently direct it toward areas of the body that feel tense, numb, stagnant, or in need of care.
As you sound, invite a state of love, harmony, peace, and gratitude.
Allow your sound to become a bridge—harmonizing body, mind, and spirit.

Meditation as Familiarity

In Tibetan, meditation is gom — “to become familiar with.”

This is our practice:
To become familiar with the inner world.

To transform our Conditioned Default Frequencies (CDFs),
we must first become aware of them.

With curiosity and compassion, begin to notice:

  • When do these patterns arise?

  • What do they feel like in your body?

  • What frequency do they carry?

Awareness is the beginning of transformation.

Breath & Regulation Practice

Return often to your breath.

Slow it down. Soften it.

Practice 4–7–8 breathing:

  • Inhale through the nose for 4

  • Hold for 7

  • Exhale slowly through the mouth for 8

Practice 4 rounds, 1–2 times per day
(or return to the guided sound journey for deeper support)

If you feel lightheaded, soften the counts and let your body guide you.

Support Your Field

Listen to music that nourishes and soothes your system.
Use the playlist provided to deepen your resonance.

Meeting Resistance

Notice where resistance arises.

Not as something to fix—
but as something to listen to.

Bring curiosity.
Bring compassion.

Let resistance be included in the field of love.

The Art of Listening — Nada Yoga

The Four Levels of Listening

Begin to listen more deeply and become aware of the four levels of sound and listening within Nada Yoga.

Notice the frequencies you embody.
Are they supportive, nourishing, and expansive?
Or limiting, reactive, and conditioned?

Listen not only with your ears, but with your whole being.

Notice:

  • your breath

  • your thoughts

  • your emotions and sensations

  • the wind, birds, water, and subtle sounds of life

  • the quiet spaces beneath sound

Let listening become relational.

Ask:

  • What is the wisdom of the tree before me?

  • What is life revealing through challenge or tension?

  • What is the inner song of my soul?

Take time to simply be with what arises.

Express it:
Write. Draw. Sing. Move. Sound. Reflect.

Let listening become embodied.

Vaikhari — Level 1

Outer Audible Sound

Vaikhari is the sound of the external world — spoken words, music, nature, vibration, rhythm, and all audible sound perceived through the senses.

Explore:
Become fully present with the sounds around you. Notice how sound affects your body, nervous system, emotions, and state of awareness.

Madhyama — Level 2

Inner Mental Sound

Madhyama is the subtle sound of the mind — thoughts, memories, imagination, inner dialogue, and the sounds we can hear internally without external vibration.

Explore:
Notice your inner soundtrack. Observe the tone and frequency of your thoughts with curiosity and compassion. Practice shifting from unconscious mental noise into intentional, supportive resonance.

Pashyanti — Level 3

Visionary / Feeling Sound

Pashyanti is the level where sound becomes image, feeling, intuition, and inner perception. Here, sound and consciousness begin to merge.

Explore:
Notice how certain sounds evoke imagery, memories, emotions, or deeper knowing. Listen beneath words and appearances. Allow sound to awaken insight, symbolism, and felt-sense awareness.

Para — Level 4

Transcendent Sound — Pure Presence

Para means “beyond.” It is the unstruck sound — the silent source beneath all vibration. A state of deep stillness, unity, and connection to the greater field of consciousness.

Explore:
Sit in silence. Listen beyond sound. Sense the spaciousness beneath thought and identity. Allow yourself to rest in presence, awareness, and the mystery of being.
