Deva Munay, founder of Sacred Sound & Wonder, is a sound alchemist, teacher, and guide devoted to the sacred art of remembrance—helping others return to their essential nature through the transformative power of sound, ritual, and presence. She is based among the ancient redwoods and rugged coastline of Big Sur, CA.
Through immersive retreats, intimate sound journeys, and private experiences, Deva creates sanctuaries of resonance that invite inner stillness, clarity, and connection. Whether guiding a group through the luminous harmonics of alchemy crystal singing bowls, holding space for someone in profound transition, or swimming alongside humpback whales in French Polynesia during her Whale Song Pilgrimage, she invites people into spaces of beauty, wonder, and listening.
Her work is not about fixing, but about remembering—awakening the innate wisdom of the body and spirit, and reconnecting with our original nature of love, wonder, and wholeness.
Lineage & Journey
Deva's spiritual journey began in 1996 with a 4.5-month pilgrimage through Southeast Asia and the Himalayas. While attending the Dalai Lama's teachings in McLeod Ganj, India, she received her first sacred sound instruments, awakening a lifelong devotion to the transformative power of vibration and the sound beneath all things. Since then, she has followed the call of spirit across continents—learning from wisdom keepers, ancient traditions, sacred sites, and the elemental realms of Egypt, Bali, Thailand, Central America, and beyond.
During four extended journeys to Peru, spanning more than ten months, Deva worked deeply with the sacred plant medicines Ayahuasca and Huachuma. These profound encounters opened gateways to expanded consciousness, healing, and remembrance, while awakening a deeper inquiry: Could these extraordinary states of awareness be accessed without ingesting a substance?
Sound became that bridge. Through intentional vibration, ceremony, and deep presence, she discovered a gentle, accessible pathway into profound states of stillness, insight, and connection—an exploration that continues to shape her work today.
Each journey adds new layers of wisdom and devotion, deepening the way Deva holds space and listens to the subtle rhythms of life. From the vast silence of Antarctica to the sacred waters of Moʻorea, where she swims alongside humpback whales, her explorations continue to inspire a profound reverence for the natural world and its mysteries. Her work honors both ancient traditions and intuitive innovation, weaving together the seen and unseen through sound, breath, movement, and sacred ceremony.

Deva is known for her extraordinary, masterfully curated collection of rare Crystal Tones Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls—each handcrafted in the USA with precious gemstones, metals, and elemental minerals. These exquisite instruments are both works of art and vibrational allies, inviting profound relaxation, expanded awareness, and a deeper connection to the beauty and mystery of sound.
Through personalized consultations, offered virtually and in person, Deva guides collectors, practitioners, and discerning clients in discovering individual bowls or harmonically balanced sets that resonate with their unique intentions and aspirations. Each instrument is thoughtfully selected and ceremonially blessed on the sacred land of Big Sur, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, before finding its new home—infused with intention, presence, and reverence.

Deva is the co-producer and featured artist on Overlapping Halos: The Poetry of Hafiz, a luminous collaboration weaving the spoken poetry of Penny Vieregge, the violin artistry of Edwin Huizinga, and the ethereal harmonics of alchemy crystal singing bowls. She also co-produced and performs on Lifting the Sky: Dawn to Dreams, an immersive musical journey into stillness, beauty, and deep rest.
Her third album, Moonrise, was created in collaboration with Grammy-winning producer Jeff Bhasker (Beyoncé, Harry Styles, Kanye West, and fun.). Together, they bring the ancient art of sacred sound into dialogue with contemporary music production, creating an expansive sonic landscape that invites deep listening, contemplation, and transformation.
Deva performs and collaborates with musicians across genres and traditions, bringing sacred sound to concert halls, retreat centers, ceremonial spaces, and extraordinary destinations around the world. She is also a faculty member at the renowned Esalen Institute in Big Sur, where she guides immersive workshops exploring the transformative potential of sound, consciousness, and human connection.
