Whale Song Pilgrimage to Mo’orea, French Polynesia
August, September, October 2026
A Journey into Deep Listening & Communion with the Wild
After the profound encounters of 2025, we return to the sacred waters of Mo'orea—a place where the veils between worlds grow thin and the ocean itself becomes a temple.
Each pilgrimage is an invitation to slow down and enter into deep resonance with the whales, the sea, and the quiet wisdom within. Here, in the crystalline lagoons of Mo'orea, the great humpback whales remind us how to breathe, rest, and remember our belonging to the vast web of creation.
These are sacred encounters— a remembrance of the connection to our kin in the water. A call to reconnect with nature, with yourself, and with a circle of like-hearted souls walking the same path of wonder and awakening.

Navigating by Stars
Humpback whales migrate across thousands of miles of open ocean, navigating by the stars above and Earth’s magnetic field below — ancient wayfinders moving in rhythm with celestial intelligence.
During our time together, we attune to these same currents:
the moon’s phases,
the arc of constellations,
the tides,
and the quiet guidance of the natural world.
We do not rush the ocean.
We move with it.
The Rhythm of the Pilgrimage
Each Whale Song Pilgrimage unfolds over 7 nights and 8 days on Mo’orea.
We spend four dedicated outings on the water, respectfully guided by experienced local captains and whale stewards. In accordance with French Polynesian regulations, only five guests, one group facilitator, and one whale guide may enter the water at a time. This creates intimate encounters while minimizing impact on these sacred beings.
The remaining days are intentional integration days — space to rest, snorkel coral reefs, hike lush mountain trails, visit waterfalls, journal, or simply allow your nervous system to recalibrate.
This rhythm of immersion and restoration is part of the medicine.
Our Guides & Stewards
Each week is supported by a small, devoted team of ocean stewards.
Our first week is guided by, Teoni, an experienced waterman and underwater photographer, joins the team — offering quiet presence and, when available, stunning imagery from your time in the ocean.
Our 2nd and third pilgrimage are co-facilitated with Francesca, whose intuitive whale scouting, warmth, and deep attunement create a field of joyful reverence both in and out of the water.
Our final pilgrimage is guided by Hereiti, whose lifelong connection to Mo’orea and grounded leadership offer extraordinary local knowledge and deep respect for marine life.
Depending on the week, an additional assistant may support our group to ensure smooth logistics and spacious integration.
While each guide brings their own gifts, the essence remains constant:
Respect.
Patience.
Listening.
Following the whales’ lead.

About Swimming with Whales
These pilgrimages involve swimming in the open ocean—an experience that invites both courage and trust. You'll swim distances of 100–200 meters from the boat to respectfully approach the whales, and you'll need stamina for multiple outings over the week.
This may sound intimidating, and that's natural. Many participants have never snorkeled in open water before arriving in Mo'orea—and they discover something deeply instinctive about returning to the womb of the great mother. The warm tropical waters (79–84°F) hold us in ways beyond words.
With preparation, you'll be ready: practice swimming with your mask, snorkel, and fins beforehand (even in a pool works beautifully), and build your comfort with being in water. Our expert guides will support you every step of the way.
We require that all participants can swim confidently and are comfortable in ocean conditions. This ensures both your safety and your ability to fully receive the gift of these encounters.

Swimming with Humpback Whales in Mo’orea
Mo’orea is one of the most extraordinary places on Earth to encounter humpback whales. In 2025, French Polynesia announced what will become the largest marine sanctuary in the world, expanding protections across its vast ocean territory.
Each year, these warm, turquoise waters become a sacred nursery where mothers nurse their calves and the males sing their ancient songs. During our pilgrimages, we spend four days on the water — listening, witnessing, and entering the field of resonance that connects us all.
Every encounter is guided by deep respect for the whales and their home. We follow French Polynesia’s strict whale-friendly guidelines, ensuring the safety and well-being of these magnificent beings while supporting ongoing marine conservation.
If you prefer to remain on the boat, you are warmly welcome to experience the magic from above the surface.
“The sea …
Once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever." — Jacques Cousteau
"Whales sing of our interconnectedness,
echoing through the vastness of the ocean to remind us of the rhythm of life."

Teoni and Hereti
August 8-15 and October 3-10, 2026
”I was born and raised here in Tahiti. My father grew up in Hawaii, and my mother is from the Cook Islands. I grew up surfing and diving; the ocean has always been my playground. I travelled around the world working on private yachts and am now a family man. I started my business so I could come home every night and be a father. My business is based on showing my clients a good time and adapting the tours to the client’s comfort.” — Teoni
Teoni is a beloved Tahitian whale guide and master underwater photographer whose approach to whale encounters is rooted in deep respect for these sacred beings. With just four participants per week, his commitment to smaller groups creates more intimate experiences and protects the whales from excessive human interaction. His expertise in reading whale behavior, combined with his skill behind the camera, means you'll not only have profound encounters but also return home with stunning images that capture the magic of your time in the water.
Teoni's care extends to every detail—last year's group still talks about his "fin service," helping remove everyone's fins at the boat ladder after each swim. It's these thoughtful touches, along with his gentle presence and deep cultural connection to these waters, that make each pilgrimage with him truly special.
